Read this first A licence is a promise about how you're allowed to use something. Free to download is not the same as free to sell with. This page only lists sources that are safe for commercial work — but always glance at the licence on the actual file, because a single item can differ from its library's default.

Licences in 60 seconds

Four labels cover almost everything you'll meet. We tag every source below with one.

  • CC0 / Public domain The gold standard. Use it anywhere, commercial or personal, modify it, sell what you make with it — no credit needed. Nothing to think about.
  • MIT / Apache / ISC Common for icon sets and code. Free for commercial use, no visible credit needed on your artwork; just don't strip the licence text if you redistribute the raw pack.
  • CC BY Free to use commercially but you must credit the creator visibly (name + link). Fine for a blog; awkward inside a product. Avoid unless you'll add the credit.
  • All rights reserved / Marketplace Freepik, Flaticon, Vecteezy, Creative Market, Adobe Stock, Shutterstock. Not free to ship unless you've bought the right licence. Skip these here.
The safe-to-sell rule If it's CC0 or MIT/Apache, you're clear. If it's CC BY, only use it where you can show the credit. If it's a marketplace, assume you need to pay.
Category 1

Vectors & silhouettes

Single-shape SVGs that drop straight onto the canvas and recolour cleanly — ideal for stamps, motifs and accents.

  • Public Domain Vectors CC0
    Big library of public-domain vectors and clip art, all commercial-safe.
  • Openclipart CC0
    The classic public-domain clip-art archive — huge and varied.
  • SVG Repo CC0 / MITsome CC BY
    Enormous, but mixed licences — filter to CC0 or MIT, and check each collection.

Icons

Clean, consistent icon families — great for UI-style marks, lists and infographics.

Illustrations

Bigger scenes and characters for covers, lead magnets and empty states — most are recolourable SVGs.

  • unDraw Free / no credit
    Modern minimalist illustrations, pick any accent colour. Commercial-safe, no attribution. (Don't redistribute the pack itself.)
  • Open Peeps CC0 · Open Doodles CC0 · Humaaans CC0
    Mix-and-match people and hand-drawn sets, fully public domain.
  • ManyPixels Gallery Free / no credit
    Hundreds of flat SVG illustrations, free for commercial use.
Category 4

Stock photos

For covers and backgrounds. All three below are free for commercial use with no attribution required on a normal download.

  • Unsplash Free / no credit · Pexels Free / no credit · Pixabay Free / no credit
    Download, use, modify, sell what you make — no credit needed (a credit is always a kind gesture).
Two things you still can't do Don't sell the photo itself unchanged as if it were your own stock, and don't use a recognisable person, logo or artwork in a way that implies they endorse you. These apply to all three sites.

Fonts

ShoutCreate already serves a large open-font library inside the app (via Bunny Fonts). For more, or to install locally:

Tip Open licences (OFL/Apache) let you use fonts in commercial designs and PDFs. Fonts sold on marketplaces usually do not — check before you rely on one.

Generating your own with AI

AI is a fast way to make stamps and motifs that don't exist in any library. One thing to know first: most image AIs (Midjourney, DALL·E, etc.) output raster images (PNG), not vectors. A handful make real, editable SVGs.

  • Recraft (V4 vector) paid plan for commercial use
    The current best for true text-to-SVG — clean, editable paths, not a trace. Note: the free tier is not licensed for commercial use; you need a paid plan (from ~$10/mo) to use or sell what you make.
  • SVG.io · Kittl check plan terms
    Simpler icon/graphic-style SVG generation. Confirm the plan's commercial terms before shipping.
  • Vectorizers (Recraft, Illustrator Image Trace, Vectorizer.ai) tool-dependent
    Turn a raster AI image (or any PNG) into SVG by auto-tracing. Fine for single-colour silhouettes; the paths come out messier than native vector, so tidy them if needed.
Two cautions with AI art (1) Licence: AI-output terms vary by tool and plan and are still evolving — check each tool covers commercial use before you sell with it (Recraft's free tier does not). (2) Style prompts: avoid asking for a living artist's name or a real brand's look — that invites copyright and trademark trouble. Describe the genre ("bold pop-art comic burst"), not a person.
Best results for stamps Ask for a single-colour silhouette on a transparent background. It'll drop cleanly onto the canvas and recolour with your theme, just like the built-in Style Pack stamps.

  1. Vectors & SVGs — open the Add menu and import the SVG straight onto the canvas, then recolour, resize and combine it with your own shapes.
  2. Photos & illustrations — import as an image; in a document they'll sit in an image box you can position and crop.
  3. Patterns — you rarely need a download: the Document Manager's Background pattern picker and the Pattern studio cover most needs.
  4. Fonts — most of these are already in the font menu; just pick one.
